Joyce Krauss, President

Joyce Krauss is proud to be a five year member of Steel Magnolias and considers it an honor to serve as President this year. 

All throughout her career she has worked with children.  Joyce was a teacher and school administrator for 36 years.  She retired from the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District where she was Assistant Superintendent of Elementary and Middle Schools as well as supervisor of Pre-school and Child Development Programs.  Her educator skills and her work with children with learning problems make her empathetic to the wonderful children who pass through the Geraldine Stramski Developmental Center.  She truly understands what it takes to “make children’s health blossom”.

Joyce has a Masters Degree in English with a specialization in reading.  Her undergraduate degree is from UCLA (go Bruins!) and her masters is from Cal Poly Pomona.

As a community volunteer she served as President of the Assistance League of Long Beach and also chaired the strategic planning task force. She served as a member of the Educational Foundation Board for the Long Beach Unified School District and as a Field Supervisor for Student Teachers at Cal State Univ. Long Beach.  

Joyce is married to Terry Krauss and is the proud mother of three children.  All gainfully employed! 

In her spare time, Joyce and Terry are very active in the Long Beach Yacht Club where Terry is Chairman of the Board of Governors and a former Commodore.  They both love boating and the outdoors.
