About Us

Steel Magnolias is an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization committed to raising funds to benefit children with special needs.

Our primary beneficiary is the Stramski Children's Developmental Center at MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach. We provide funding to fill the gaps in services needed by children and their families that are not funded or are only partially supported by other sources. Children and families often don't fit into one-size-fits-all, and restricted funding often makes it difficult to provide the help needed by challenged children and the families that care for them. Specific help at the right time can make a long-term difference in a child's life.

Your generosity helps this multi-disciplinary special needs center help children with conditions such as cleft lip and palate, genetic and birth defects, learning problems, developmental delays and behavioral and neurodevelopmental problems including autism, attention deficit disorder, cerebral palsy and fragile x syndrome. The Stramski Children's Developmental Center works with over 4,500 infants, children, and their families annually. Your generosity provides access to treatment for families with limited resources. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure challenged children get the help they need to live their lives to their fullest potential.

Steel Magnolias is proud to have earned a Four-Star rating from Charity Navigator.

Our primary fundraiser is our annual Signature Event held each spring. In addition, we participate in the annual city-wide Long Beach Gives program. We are very proud of raising over $6.3 million for children’s health. All monies raised stay in the local Long Beach Community.
